Administrator of the Online Marketplace "Crimenetwork" Arrested, Extensive Evidence Secured

The Central Office for Combating Cybercrime (ZIT) of the Frankfurt am Main Public Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), has arrested the administrator of the illicit online marketplace "Crimenetwork" and seized substantial evidence.

Administrator of the Online Marketplace "Crimenetwork" Arrested, Extensive Evidence Secured

The arrested 29-year-old suspect allegedly operated under the alias "Techmin" as the platform’s technical administrator. His responsibilities reportedly included managing the IT infrastructure and maintaining the system.

For years, "Crimenetwork" was one of the primary trading hubs in the German-speaking underground economy. The marketplace facilitated the trade of stolen data, drugs, and forged documents. At its peak, the platform had over 100,000 registered users, most of whom, according to the BKA, were from German-speaking countries.

Transactions on the platform were primarily conducted using cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Monero. The alleged operators, including the recently arrested administrator, are suspected of earning commission fees ranging from one to five percent of the transaction value. Additional revenue was generated through monthly fees charged to sellers.

During the police operation, supported by international law enforcement agencies, the BKA secured extensive user and transaction data. These findings provide valuable leads for further investigations into the criminal networks behind the platform.

Additional information about the seized platform is available on the website www.bustedcrime.network, which is specifically targeted at the criminal users of the now-defunct marketplace.
